پایان مسابقات لئون-اسپانیا؛
آناند ۴.۵ بر ۱.۵ شیروف را در هم شکست
در پایان مسابقات لئون، ویسواناتان آناند با نتیجه ۴.۵ بر ۱.۵ آلکسی شیروف را شکست داد. در روز سوم این رقابتها آناند همانند روز دوم در بازی اول با مهره سیاه پیروز شد و در بازی دوم با کسب نتیجه تساوی، رقابتها را در مجموع به نفع خود پایان داد.

مسابقات سیوداد لئون با حضور ویسواناتان آناند و آلکسی شیروف از ۱۳ تا ۱۵ خردادما ۱۳۹۰ و در شش دور، با کنترل زمانی ۴۵ دقیقه و با احتساب ۳۰ ثانیه پاداش حرکت به انجام می رسد.در هر روز بازیکنان در ۲ مسابقه رو در روی هم قرار می گیرند و در صورت کسب نتیجه ۳-۳ در پایان مسابقات ، سرنوشت عنوان قهرمانی در بازیهای تکمیلی که در پایان دور ششم آغاز خواهد شد، رقم می خورد.بازیهای تکمیلی در ۲ مسابقه بلیتس ۵ دقیقه ای انجام می شود که در صورت کسب نتیجه تساوی در این دو مسابقه بازی مرگ ناگهانی تعیین کننده فرد پیروز خواهد کرد.

بازی پنجم وششم
روز سوم و پایانی رقابتهای لئون، ادامه روز دوم به لحاظ کسب نتایج بازیها بود، بازیکنان در این روز یکبار دیگر همانند روزهای قبل بازیهایی تماشاگر پسند از خود به نمایش گذاشتند.البته در این بین هواداران شیروف چندان روز خوبی سپری نکردندچرا که شیروف در این روز هم نتوانست به پیروزی دست یابد.آناند با فتح مسابقات لئون یکبار دیگر کلاس کار یک قهرمان جهان را به رخ همگان کشید.
بازی پنجم همانند بازی سوم در دفاع کاروکان پیش رفت با این تفاوت که اینبار شیروف پاسخی قانع کننده به نوآوری حریف داد.این بازی هر چند برای مرد اسپانیایی به لحاظ فنی راضی کننده بود اما نتیجه پایانی داستانی متفاوت داشت.
در بازی آخر شیروف هر چه کرد تا حداقل یک پیروزی در این مسابقات دشت کند، به نتیجه ای نرسید و یک تساوی 39 حرکتی، پایانی بر مسابقات لئون 2011 بود.

It is not a pretty picture. Aside from the king trying to fend off Black's army by himself, the knight on a1 and the rook on b1 make for a very ugly picture. 36...Rc6! 37.Kg5 Re4! The World Champion plays the most efficient mating line. 38.Kxh6
38...Rg4?? Time is the culprit behind two unfortunate blunders. This move would actually allow White to save the game. 38...Ng4+ would have finalized the mating pattern. 39.Kxg6 Rxf6+ 40.Kg5 Kg7 41.Ng2 Rg6+ 42.Kf5 Nh6# 39.Rf2?? روز دوم مسابقات لئون با یک برد و یک تساوی برای آناند همراه بود،در بازی سوم آناند که با مهره سیاه در برابر شیروف قرار گرفته بود، با یک نو آوری در حرکت ششم در گشایش کاروکان پیشرفته در شاخه 4...g4 که مورد علاقه شیروف است،بازی را به سویی سوق داد تا حریف برای بهترین پاسخ نیاز به ارزیابی بیشتر داشته باشد.با توجه به اینکه این بازیها سریع می باشد و فرصت کافی در اختیار شیروف قرار نداشت، با پاسخی نه چندان محکم در دام گشایشی حریف گرفتار شد تا آناند در ۱۷ حرکت با کسب برتری لازم چاره ای جز تسلیم برای شیروف باقی نگذارد.بازی دوم حادثه خاصی در بر نداشت و در ۲۳ حرکت به تساوی ختم شد.
هم اکنون در پایان بازی چهارم، آناند با نتیجه ۳-۱ از شیروف پیش است.این مسابقات عصر به وقت تهران با انجام بازیهای پنجم و ششم خاتمه می یابد.گفتنی است که بازیها راس ساعت ۱۹ به وقت تهران آغاز می شود.

1.e4 c6 2.d4 d5 3.e5 Bf5 4.g4. This is by far the most aggressive approach to the Caro-Kann Advance, and has led to many a tactical slugfest. The idea is obviously to gain space and time over the bishop, as well as promote dangerous options if the pawns start rolling forward on the kingside. Though of questionable reputation, it is also a favorite of Shirov's. 4...Bd7 5.c4 e6. This line doesn't see much grandmaster play, and it is hardly surprising considering the awkward bishop on d7 and the unattractive development problems Black will need to solve. 6.Nc3 c5!!N
Astonishing really, and if ever there was an opening novelty deserving of exclamation points, this is it. It isn't so much that Black is winning (he is not), but what it does to the evaluation of the position from both White's and Black's perspective. Instead of the old quiet behind the lines fight expected from Black while White tried to open lines and crack Black's position, now Black's pieces are about to take a very serious life of their own while White's g4 pawn looks like a very questionable weakness. 7.cxd5. Though the engines don't condemn Shirov's choice, they do have a slight preference for 7.Nf3 Still, the question would remain: what the heck is that pawn doing on g4? 7...exd5 8.dxc5 Bxc5
9.Bg2?! Shirov starts to go astray, but one cannot blame him for not wanting to take on d5 and potentially go down in flames. Unfortunately for him, that is exactly what happens. 9.Qxd5 Qb6 10.Bc4 Be6 (10...Bxf2+ is also possible, but leads to nothing decisive after 11.Ke2 Be6 12.Qb5+ Nc6 13.Bxe6 fxe6 14.Nf3) 11.Bb5+ Nc6 12.Bxc6+ bxc6 13.Qf3 protecting f2 and g4, though Black's chances are to be preferred due to the slightly better development and bishop pair. 9...Ne7 10.h3 Qb6 11.Qe2 0-0 12.Nf3? A mistake that allows 12...d4! however the position was probably compromised as it was. 13.Ne4 Bb5 14.Qd2 Nbc6 Threatening Bb4. 15.a3 Ng6 16.b4 Be7 17.Bb2 Rfd8 0-1. [Click to replay]
